Mankind is always seeking new frontiers to
discover
and the conquest of each new frontier is an enormous boost to his pride
and achievement. Before the Internet, we
went to the library as the source of knowledge and sought out information from books written on a
subject of our interest. you had a need for an
object of inquire because you were not going to begin looking for
something you knew nothing about. You searched what you wanted as this new information. Although, still to this day there are library
goers who walk the stacks of books looking at titles and accepting they might find what they want. Photo of earth at right Popular Science
What has this to do with new frontiers? The
Internet has open new areas of knowledge with what is called surfing. Going
from a subject to another site of a completely different subject and continue
to surf a wave of information with a general lack of intention is a new frontier. In the library you would be running back to
the card drawer or computer to locate the suggest topic; where with the
Internet you click or search the interest that the last subject created and in
an instance you are send to that new location.
The
last blog was a slap in the face with “one hand Clapping” as I prepare myself and the reader who may have rejected the blog's ideas I accept t that some readers did
not understand or find a reality in the information. Now, as I began part 2 of “Muscle Memory” and go into a more detail aspect of commuting
with the subconscious mind; the development of a “Seeing memory”. unlike Pre-visualization, to have a
post-visualization sight will require the learning which others may find strange or without a sense of reality.
I have began re-reading the third book of
Carlos Castaneda,
“Journey to Ixylan” and find some similar doubts about reality in this American author and scholar with a Ph.D in anthropology who wrote a series of books that describe his training in shamarusn and the native
use of plants. His books are notes from interviews with Don Juan, a Yaqui brujo
(sorcerer) and is now writing about his learning of “Stopping the World”. In Reality, it was learning to detach himself from the world and the speed of everything and become aware of nature.
Castaneda, a scientist with years of ability to analysis the simple native idea and analysis cultural facts has becomes so confused and tired following a discussion, he
writes about the conversation going silent.
“He (Don Juan) did not say another word for a very long time, perhaps an hour went
by in complete silence” “I did not know why, but our conversation
had drained me. I felt like going to sleep”.
(Page 35)
These last blogs which have been rather long may
have tired the readers as they were long and reference other blogs written earlier on the same subject and of
a similar length.
So Castaneda with the interview finished
and driving Don Juan to town, we find that Don Juan suggested, probably as a
part of his teachings; that they stop.
^Back of book cover' |
“He
asked me to stop...and told me that if I wanted to relax, I had to climb to the
flat top of a small hill on the side of the road and lay down on my stomach
with my head toward the east” “ I did not want to argue or perhaps I was too
tired to even speak. I climbed the hill and did as he prescribed”.
Now
this is an educated scholar doing what an old man who often
seems as a “simpleton “ (page 18); confronts his pride and suggest that he do something
stupid like going and lying on the hilltop in Mexico in a certain position.
"My interest has been to convince you that
you must assume responsibility for being here, in this marvelous world, ..I
want to convince you that you must learn to make every act count, since you are
going to be here for only a short while." writes Castaneda of Don Juan teaching. (photo right)
However, Castaneda wrote “I slept for only
two or three minutes, but it was sufficient to have my energy restored.” (Page 36). This book is not a fiction but based upon notes from his journals of documented interviews.
I
am sure that the idea of the communication with the subconscious mind and being
in the zone (Zen or relax) and the ability to see the pre-visualize action of
your bowls, is just as tiresome and strange and is needing of a rest. For this reason I have separated Part 1 and Part 2 of the blog.
We all play our sport for our own reason.
Social, competitive, self-development or any of a long list of reasons; but on
the net we find a new aspect of our sport. We learn about "Surfing the net".where we began to run from one ideal to the
next site which discuss a similar topic.

In
first learning our sport, we had the teaching of how to perform the necessary
actions to achieve acceptable results
from our performance. However, sometime while reading a blog or information
about equipment we find a “Buzzword” which we have heard but have never taken
the time to look at in detail.
In the last few blogs, the “buzzword” was “Muscle Memory”; as I discussed the
mental aspects of our performance and bowl delivery. because we know that somehow
the muscles seems to have developed the ability to repeat the same acceptable
performance.
Now with a new aspect of
our knowledge introduced to us, we are curious as to how detail or how close to
reality this idea is and if we want to include it into our sport. We are proud
of who we are and how well we perform our sport and simply more practise is what most suggest as necessary for improvement.
. We have developed an image of
performance which suits us and which we are happy to portrayed to others.
We wish to stay in our "comfort zone" which is defined by what knowledge
others of our group accept and what we believe to be reality.
We are proud and will do nothing to diminish
the opinion other club members have of us.
For this reason, we may take this new information and study it, develop
it, and even in the end reject it; but we will not share it. Stopping the world, of Castaneda's teacher and guide, Don Juan is doing what is necessary to find peace and enjoyment of our reality. Our sport and our simple bowl performance.
But
if during a clubhouse discussion this topic was introduced, we will evaluate
the general acceptance of this new knowledge to others of the group; and maybe
indicate our previous learning. But if
the topic is not introduced, not by you or another; then it remains a personal
development knowledge. Please share what
is good for our sport. If you don’t
agree or don ‘t find an advantage to using a new technique; at least accept
someone else might think differently than you. Sometimes, we suggest changes which are not at that individuals stage of development or advancement.
But if in you attempting the idea suggested or if the
doing allows a lesson to be leaned, it is well worth the effort and no damage
is done, Except… DO NOT DO IT AS PART OF YOUR REGULAR
ROUTINE OF DELIVERY.
Oh, by the way. Because blogs are erased after 5 years and
some popular blogs are still read regularly; I will be re-publishing those
blogs like “Knowing which bowl is Point” and these on the subconscious mind
exercise or lessons.
